Bethesda, Md. (October 5, 2023) – Building upon a stronghold throughout the Sun Belt and in southern California, Foundry Commercial – a full-service commercial real estate company – has planted a flag in the “DMV” (District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia) as Andrew Genova, MPS, joins Foundry as Managing Director, alongside Justin Barker, who has joined the company as a Vice President.
Genova has a longstanding relationship with Foundry Commercial, having worked closely as a strategic partner and co-broker on several deals in the mid-Atlantic region over the past decade. He is well-respected in the industry as a strategic advisor for clients across multiple asset types, helping them optimize operations while mitigating risk in their real estate selections. He is responsible for orchestrating site selections, acquisitions, and due diligence on behalf of tenants, investors, and other occupiers of real estate throughout the DMV and across the globe. Genova has 15 years of industry experience, primarily in tenant representation and occupier services. Most recently, he worked with Donohoe Real Estate Services, leading the occupier advisory business for the firm. Prior to that, he served as Principal at Avison Young.
During his career, Genova’s advisory, leasing, investment services, consulting, and portfolio management projects have exceeded 3 million square feet and over $2 billion in value. Select clients include Inova Healthcare Services, Amazon, Wildlife Conservation Society, National Association for the Education of Young Children, Battle Investment Group, WestExec Advisors, and Amalgamated Transit Union, to name a few. He has also established a niche in representing tenants in the non-profit industry. He earned his Master’s in Commercial Real Estate Finance and Development from Georgetown University and his B.S. from Birmingham Southern College.
Barker recently served as a senior advisor with Cresa and hails from the association, non-profit, and conference production industries. He joins Foundry as a Vice President, where he will serve as a strategic advisor to corporate and non-profit occupiers within scientific, industrial, government contracting, and technology industries.
A fourth-generation Washingtonian who brings over 16 years of sales, business development, project and transaction management, communication packaging, and client relationship management to the team, Barker focuses on improving clients’ space usage by aligning their long-term strategy with new purpose and use of real estate. Remaining active in numerous organizations and volunteering opportunities throughout the DMV, Barker is immersed in community organizations, industry hubs, and trends within the local scientific, technology, and government contracting industries. His wide-ranging experience, persistence, and hands-on approach have produced notable clients in multiple industries that include nonprofits, government agencies, and large corporate clients such as Amazon (AWS), AstraZeneca, IDA World Bank Group, Under Armour, King & Spalding, Dentons, and Morgan Lewis. He earned a B.S. in Business Management with a minor in Social Justice from Wheeling University.
“At Foundry, ‘It’s Personal,’ so it’s encouraging when a long-time personal relationship affords us the opportunity to welcome talent like Andrew and Justin. We have a long history of serving clients in the mid-Atlantic region, and we are excited to expand there in the years ahead,” said Gregg Ickes, President of Foundry Commercial.
