Naples, Fla. (April 6, 2023) – As the global lending markets experience fluctuations and uncertainties, Foundry Commercial continues to pour into its growing Debt & Structured Finance (DSF) platform, hiring long-time Southwest Florida banking veteran Tim McLean as Vice President in the DSF practice, working alongside Principal and Tampa Market Leader David Kern as well as DSF Vice President J.C. Tacot.
This isn’t the first time Kern and McLean have worked together. In fact, the two were colleagues for many years at Regions Bank. McLean most recently served as Senior Vice President of Commercial Real Estate for Seacoast Bank, overseeing the bank’s expanding operations in Naples. Prior to Seacoast, he served as a senior banker with Truist (formerly BB&T). With Foundry, McLean will advise clients in the evaluation, underwriting, and execution of commercial real estate debt and equity across all real estate asset classes.
“Back in the day, we could work closely with borrowers to source loans on the property types that made sense for them, without all the constraints that the GFC eventually put into place,” said McLean, who has more than 35 years of commercial banking experience. “In coordination with the rest of the team, and in juxtaposition to current market dynamics, I’m looking forward to tapping into the many relationships I’ve built over my career to help developers find the capital they need to move forward with projects.”
Foundry’s DSF platform works both regionally and across the country advising clients on debt and equity strategies. The DSF team frequently collaborates with Foundry’s Investment Advisory Group, which serves as a trusted investment advisor with clients in the handling of asset dispositions, acquisitions, recapitalizations, and 1031 exchanges across all major product types including office, industrial, multi-family, retail, seniors housing, and land.
McLean is a graduate of Miami University of Ohio, and he moved to Naples in 1988. During his career, McLean has been a member of ULI as well as the Real Estate Investment Society (REIS). He is a licensed real estate sales associate in Florida and has served as a volunteer financial counselor through the University of Florida, helping applicants buy their first homes. He is a Past President of the Rotary Club of Naples Bay.
